Thai Lion to roar its way to Bali

Thai Lion Air will commence a brand new daily service from Bangkok (DMK) to Denpasar Bali in Indonesia effective 15 September.

According to the airline’s website, the carrier will operate a daily flight on the route using a Boeing 737-600 from its home-base at Don Mueang Airport, Bangkok.

It will compete head-on with Thai AirAsia, also based at DMK, and Thai Airways International (BKK-based), both of them offering nonstop flights to Denpasar.

The airline sells a one-way promotional fare, ex-Bangkok, to Bali at THB3,155 (USD92.80). The fare includes all charges, a free baggage allowance of 20 kg, plus sport equipment, including a cycle, up to 15 kg and complimentary seat selection.

Thai AirAsia pegs its lowest fare (quoted on Skyscanner) at USD217 for the four- hour 10 minute flight using an A320.

Thai Airways International uses a B747-400 on the Denpasar run with its cheapest fare stacked at USD364 in economy class.

Thai Lion Air’s best fare on Skyscanner is USD217 considerably higher than the USD92.80 the airline advertises on its website pre-September launch. However, usually when it comes to actually booking the lowest fare it is invariably flagged as sold out within days of the launch.

Bali is a popular tourist destination, which has seen a significant rise in tourists. It is renowned for its arts, including traditional and modern dance, sculpture, painting, leather, metalworking, and music mainly around the hill town of Ubud famed for its luxury villas and spas.

In March this year, TripAdvisor named the island the world’s top destination in its Traveller’s choice award.

Thai Lion links Chiang Mai and Chengdu

Thai Lion Air has opened bookings for a new route linking Chiang Mai in North Thailand with Chengdu in China, effective 23 September.

The airline, that competes head-on with Thai AirAsia in Thailand, will use a Boeing 737-800 aircraft for the three weekly flights.

Most of the sales will go to Chinese tour operators that offer cheap package holidays to North Thailand, using Chiang Mai as the gateway.

But the flights are bookable in Chiang Mai and in the long-run travel agents are likely to sell package tours for the city’s residents featuring Chengdu.

According to AirlineRoute, Thai Lion Air will fly to Chengdu on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday departing from Chiang Mai at 2300 and arriving in Chengdu at 0230. The return flight will depart Chengdu at 0420 and arrive in Chiang Mai at 0610.

A fare check on Thai Lion Air’s website indicates most of the flights are already sold out, possibly due to them being assigned to tour operator allotments in Chengdu.

During late September there were a few seats available on the flight out of Chiang Mai with a one-way fare of THB2,775, but the return flight due to heavy bookings flagged a higher fare of THB4,390, The roundtrip fare with taxes totals THB7,165.

The direct flight takes two hours and 30 minutes.

Sichuan Airline offers a direct service on the route from Chiang Mai to Chengdu with Skyscanner quoting a roundtrip fare of THB16,430.

A one stop service from Chiang Mai, using THAI with a change of plane in Bangkok, offers a fare of THB13,658.

Thai Lion is cheaper by a considerable margin. The trick will be to catch the deals on the few seats it has for sale out of Chiang Mai outside of tour operator allotments.

Thai Lion Air to available new route to Surakarta

Thai Lion Air to available new route to Surakarta

Tourism Ministry Arief Yahya said they have spoken with the managing director of Thai Lion Air Mentari Co Ltd, captain Darsito Hendroseputro, about the flight adding new flight routes from Thailand to secondary cities across Indonesia, such as Surakarta in Central Java.

The two met at a World Travel and Tourism Council (WTCC) event in Bangkok that went on April 25-27.

“There are still landing slot machines available for international flights [in Surakarta], inches Arief said.

Darsito decided to the request and said he would care for the landing slots in both Don Mueang International Airport in Thailand, and Adisumarmo International Airport in Surakarta.

“Thailand itself welcomed 30 million foreign tourists; 10 , 000, 000 from China. Meanwhile, plane tickets to Jakarta only take three hours and around four hours to Bali, so it’s very ideal, ” added Arief.

Darsito said that there was a brand new trend among China tourists to travel to more than one country or city. From the 10 million Chinese tourists visiting Thailand, he is confident that the business could convince at least 10 percent or 1 million of them to take flight to Central Java.

“We have flights from twelve cities in China to Thailand. We have already been operating 26 aircraft for four years and heading to add two more in 2017, so there’ll be 28 airplanes in total, ” he extra. (kes)

Thai Lion Air to start flights to Bangkok from Mumbai

Thai Lion Air to start flights to Bangkok from Mumbai

After the dispatch of Air Asia X Indonesia in May, Mumbai air terminal will see the dispatch of another remote ease bearer (LCC) as Thai Lion Air calendars to start flights to Bangkok from Wednesday. Thai Lion Air is a partner organization of Indonesian LCC Lion Air. Thai Lion Air will specifically interface Mumbai to Bangkok’s Don Mueang airplane terminal twice every week and afterward thrice seven days from October 29,” said a Thai Lion Air official. The course will open up a large portion of South East Asia to Mumbaikars, as Don Mueang airplane terminal is center point to seven different LCCs, including Nok Air, New Gen Airways, NokScoot, R Airlines, Siam Air, Thai AirAsia and Thai AirAsia X.

What it implies is minimal effort associations from Mumbai to well known goals like Phuket, Singapore, Jakarta, Guanghzhou, Chengdu, Krabi, Ko Samui, Surat Thani and a large group of different ones like Ko Phangnan, Loei, Trang, Ho Chi Minh, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai, and so on. This would then end up being where the brisk riser stands to pick up the most.

Not for the time being however, as even before the flights have been authoritatively propelled airfares on Thai Lion Air (which likewise has business class seats) for Diwali excursion travel have gone up. For go around mid-October, return passages have moved to INR 18,000 to 20,000, with every single limited time charge gone. Yet, in the event that you can simply gather your sacks and leave then you could get limited time tolls on certain days for travel this week or the following, which put an arrival Mumbai-Bangkok admission at INR 10,871. “This incorporates the cost of 20 kg things (nourishment prohibited) on the worldwide course,” the carrier official included.

Airfares may be shoddy, however the arrangement with flying a SouthEast Asian or even an European LCC is that one could get caught in concealed passages. For example, in the event that one has booked a ticket to the hilly city of Chiang Mai, in Northern Thailand, at that point the 20 kg free stuff applies just on the Mumbai-Bangkok return leg and not the local Bangkok-Chiang Mai leg. In May this year, the Air Asia family came back to Mumbai following a rest of five years with the dispatch of Mumbai-Kuala Lumpur flights via Air Asia X Indonesia. read more
